LONGEVITY MARATHON · SPORT + RESEARCH
I consider marathon running as an integral part of my professional and research work — a healthy marathon build-up is fully compatible with a longevity mindset and lifestyle.

What works in marathon training is, more or less, exactly what works in healthy ageing. My training rests on these pillars, built on the fundamentals of lifestyle medicine — I've been measuring and documenting them since I started running.
Running volume alone isn't enough: strength, mobility and cross-training keep joints resilient, protect against injury, and ultimately decide how long you can stay active.
Mindful nutrition, microbiome balance and blood glucose monitoring (CGM) — the foundation of energy supply and recovery, which I continuously measure and refine.
HRV-based measurements track the balance between load and recovery — signalling when to push, and when to pull back.
Group training and running festivals aren't just motivating: social connection itself is proven to add years to a healthy life.

All of the above essentially build on the pillars of lifestyle medicine.
That's why I call my marathon build-up a longevity marathon project: it's least about chasing time, and far more about the fact that the time invested in marathon preparation — while considerable — will return even more healthy years of life.
The balance is positive. The only question is how many months, years, or decades it can add to our healthy lifespan.

I'm happy to present the protocol at sports events, sports conferences, running-related talks and panel discussions — tailored to the audience and the format.
