‘We started talking. We were talking about two guys about 23 years old.

They were happy and grateful for the lead-out. It turned out that besides being such great runners, they had graduated from university, and they weren't just friends, they saw each other almost as brothers. We talked again, and I didn't want to hold them up, but I saw they were open to conversation, so I told them I have a program as a teacher and I would like to invite them as guests. Because I felt they were very valuable guys, human beings. They happily said yes. Then it turned out that the one who finished second, Berci, had cancer. When I heard that... And he recovered. I didn't cry on the outside, but I did on the inside.

Then I found out again that the first one, Donát, had been in Kenya for 6 weeks for a training camp. This is what I read about Donát regarding his trip to Kenya. "I also came to experience what poverty is, what it means to truly go without. To live on a few dollars a day. To look into the honestly shining eyes of Kenyan children as they join us barefoot during a training session. To see the elderly woman sitting by the side of the road, whose only income is the boiled corn she sells, for roughly a few tens of forints. Of course, if she manages to sell it at all. To enter ramshackle, patched-up "houses" where several generations live together, often without electricity and water."
