Career Orientation Day - 2023, Szolnok, Tiszaparti Grammar School

Even 10 years after graduating, I love visiting the Tiszaparti Grammar School in Szolnok again – partly to thank my teachers for what they gave me, and partly to pass on years of experience to today's students through a career orientation talk or discussion.

Looking back over a decade, I can see that the examples, guidance, admonitions and lessons of my Tiszaparti teachers were all needed for several important elements of my life to fall into place.

'Zooming out' from the events at Tiszaparti Grammar School in Szolnok and looking at the bigger picture, I would put it this way: the world isn't one way or another – we are the ones who are this way or that, and we are the ones who make it this way or that. Homo sapiens shapes the world, whatever it is and whatever it will become.

This isn't something done to us; it's something we do to the world:

we must not simply accept the future – we must build it together."
