"Not so long ago, my childhood friend Fecó and I used to pick sour cherries and melons together as summer work.

At dawn we'd already be hoeing corn in the fields of Rákóczifalva, and in the evenings we'd kick a ball around on the dusty cinder pitch until dark, whenever we didn't have homework, a test, or an oral exam to prepare for.

After many years without contact (which, sadly, is on me), we met again a few weeks ago at Audi in Győr. I'd been invited to a round-table discussion, and to my great joy, my childhood friend Fecó was there among the audience.

Meeting him again, I became fully aware of the journey he had made – from the elementary school in Rákóczifalva, through secondary school and university, to his vocational training in Germany, and through numerous difficulties to his current job. He 'went the distance' through these 20 years, exactly as it should be done.

I'm proud of my childhood friend Fecó, who over the past two decades has proven that what matters isn't where we start, but where we're heading."
